Meet Anna Spratt

In 2023, Anna ran some of our summer s’chool sessions at locations around the Wakefield district.

What I do…

“I am an art teacher and I love it! I have taught 2.5 year olds to young adults in a range of different organisations. From setting up art departments in schools, to running weekend and holiday workshops and running community creative events. I am presently working in an alternative post 16 organisation where creativity and learning in a different way is celebrated.”

Growing up I wanted to become…

“From early on I knew that I wanted to work with children and young people. I love their energy, sense of curiosity and natural creativity. I wasn’t sure how I wanted to work with youngsters, but my Mum’s neighbour gave me an amazing book about teaching art to deaf children. I was hooked!”

The thing that surprised me most about my career…

“How much I enjoy it and how rewarding it is to watch youngster develop through creative exploration. I’ve really enjoyed the wide variety of opportunities that are available to teach creativity and how much I have learned along the way too. You never stop learning and that is exciting!”

The best advice anyone ever gave me…

“Be brave, be courageous and don’t be frightened of making mistakes. Happy accidents can be VERY useful!”
